Lower Back Pain

Dear Melvin,

I first went to see you because I had severe pain in my right lower back and left hip, knee and foot. I was at the point where I could not stand up straight and every step was very painful. You asked me to walk back and forth. You then said that I was suffering muscle spasms likely starting in the abdomen. At first, I thought you were confused about my “back” pain location. You then had me lie down and take a series of hold positions. You applied finger pressure to several places along my spine.

I thereafter came off the table, and was able to stand erect. The pain was gone and could walk upright. When these pains return, usually after exercise, I can practice these hold positions and get immediate relief. I am now able to walk for exercise, where before I could not walk more than a block with out developing these pains.

You told me that most back pain was caused by muscle spasm and muscle fatigue. You told me that you were devoted to stopping all form of back pain and had become very capable at doing just that.

Thank you so much for this chance to regain my mobility,

Kathy A., Hillsborough

Dear Melvin,

I had been suffering from severe lower back pain for two weeks. I could hardly walk. I knew you could fix the problem and you did. What I didn’t know is that it would only take 90 seconds. Yes, after just 90 seconds of holding me in a certain position to reset my lower back muscle, the pain was gone. And I mean totally gone. I came home and told my wife and she couldn’t believe it.

Hip Pain

Dear Melvin,

My job taking care of a toddler had become very stressful as I was in my mid 60s and hoping to retire. Instead, I needed to go on working as I was so fond of the child and he had become as important to me as my own family members.

My left hip went “out “ out on me one night after the child went home and I had been doing a lot of physical things that Wednesday in addition to the childcare. I knew of Melvin’s work from my husband (see above) and I trusted that Melvin could help me. Melvin worked with me and showed me a number of exercises I could practice at home. I did the exercises frequently. By Monday of the next week the pain was gone. Particularly helpful I feel was the hands on demonstration of the different strategies and I will use them in future. Thanks Melvin for your excellent work,

Dear Melvin,

I am a physically active 48-year-old woman. Two years ago I began to develop hip pain in my right hip and it extended down the leg to just below the knee. There was also pain in my groin area.

I began to fear that I might be facing hip replacement surgery. I was losing my ability to simply take short walks.

The day I entered your office was my lucky day. After asking me a series of questions about the pain and watching me take a few steps, you then stated that the cause of my pain was most likely hip and groin muscle fatigue, spasm and loss of full range of motion.

For the next 60 minutes, you applied your techniques of “muscle reset” to my hip, groin, and lower back.

I thereafter walked out of your office with ease and comfort.

The pain was gone.

Thank God. Thank you.

Coccyx Pain

Dear Melvin,

I had accidentally fallen backwards onto the base of my spine (coccyx). X-rays showed nothing broken, but the pain was extremely bad. Medication only gave temporary relief.

A relative suggested that I make an appointment with you. I explained to you where the pain was and what types of movement made the pain less or more acute. You then had me take several types of standing positions. You gently pressed my lower back in several locations, and asked if the pain was still there.

I got up off the table and walked about, bent over and twisted about. The pain was not there.

I made two follow-up visits to your office just to be on the safe side. The pain has never returned.

Thanks to you, Melvin Mapp, and your science of muscle pain.

Sciatica

Dear Melvin,

I went to your office with a complaint of pain in my right buttock and extending down the right leg to my ankle. The pain in my backside was so bad that I could not drive my car or manage to have a full night’s sleep.

You told me that this type of sciatica was caused by muscle spasm and fatigue. You named three muscles that were a direct cause of sciatica, and five additional muscles that contributed to the problem.

You then proceeded to apply your techniques of very gentle positioning and muscle reset. After a very short time, there was no sciatica or pain.

Thank you for your skill, patience, and technique.

Arm and Hand Pain/Numbness

Dear Melvin,

A word of thanks. I had lost the use of my left arm. There was pain and numbness from my shoulder and extending down to my fingers. I could not pick up and hold a cup of coffee. Over a period of more than three years, I had been given numerous neurological tests, x-rays, MRIs, and anti-inflammatory drugs. The pain, numbness, and loss of strength were still there.

A relative told me to make an appointment with you and explain exactly what my pain complaint was. You surprised me by stating that my condition had a name and an effective “muscle reset” therapy.

It took you less than 30 minutes to stop the pain and return my arm and hand to full strength.

I am very appreciative of you.

Rotator Cuff

Dear Melvin,

A word of appreciation.

I had injured my right shoulder, and I was in extreme pain. I could not raise my arm above chest level. The simple act of shaving had become too difficult to perform. Medical office visits and X-rays showed nothing broken. Anti-inflammatory medication only gave temporary pain relief.

On my visit to your office, you patiently listened to my complaint. You placed me on a table and gently manipulated my upper body, neck, arm and shoulder muscles. Forty-five minutes later, you asked me to raise my arm high above my head. The pain was gone. I had full, complete use of my arm.

You instructed me on techniques to protect my rotator cuff muscles in the future.

Thank you for your devotion and amazing skill.

Headaches

Dear Melvin,

I had suffered headaches for a great many years. The terrible head pain would put me in bed on many occasions. The pain was located at different parts of my head at different times. At times the pain would be over my eyes, my temples, top of my head, in back of my head, or it would be at the back of my neck and in my upper back.

I took medications for headache; but they only gave very temporary pain relief.

A good friend sent me to you.

You said that my constant head, neck, and upper back pain were most likely caused by muscle spasm and muscle fatigue in the neck and upper back. You educated me on the most simple, direct, and proper way to stop headaches. Now when I feel a headache coming on, I self apply your technique, and in a couple of minutes, no headache.

All of my thanks to you.

Carpal Tunnel

Dear Melvin,

Thanks to your skill and patience, I am no longer disabled and my ability to earn a living is restored. I am a 48-year-old woman who works as a hair stylist. About three years ago, I began to have pain and stiffness in my right hand. The pain and numbness became so intense that I was no longer able to use my right hand or to earn a living. I considered having carpal tunnel surgery even though I had been told that lasting relief from the surgery might not be the case. In other words, I could be facing the same problem six months after surgery.

Then I fortunately got an appointment with you.

You said that you were going to “reset” my hand muscles. You said that my hand muscles were suffering spasm and fatigue, and that you were going to give them a badly needed chance to repair and reset.

As I sat in a chair, you took my hand and arm through different positions. You pressed here and there, waited, and did more of the same.

Half way through your carpal tunnel therapy, the pain was 90% relieved. Two additional therapy sessions later and some instruction on hand care and my hand pain and disability were over.

Many Thanks,

Knee Pain

Dear Melvin,

I had been suffering with knee pain and knee collapse. You explained to me that the larger number of knee pain problems were caused by spasms and fatigue of the upper thigh muscles. You explained that these muscles actually caused the kneecap to be pulled out of place, and that is where the pain came from.

You showed me how to reset the upper thigh muscles, and place the kneecap back into its proper position.

You also helped me to avoid knee surgery!

Thanks,
